The Minister of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Hilola Uktamovna Umarova, has been relieved of her post and appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration in charge of education reform. The announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.
Umarova’s appointment to this new position was formalized by a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
For reference, Hilola Umarova was born in 1988 in Weimar, Germany. She graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with a degree in foreign economic activity.
Her previous positions include:
- Director of the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Specialized School for Information and Communication Technologies;
- General Manager of INHA University in Tashkent;
- Director of the Presidential Agency for the Development of Creativity and Specialized Schools under the Cabinet of Ministers.
Umarova was appointed Minister of Preschool and School Education in late 2022, following a presidential decree.
As a reminder, a presidential decree issued last month introduced major changes to the structure of the Presidential Administration, including the establishment of the position of Head of the Presidential Administration. Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva was appointed to this newly created position.
