Yesterday, on May 2, Uzbekistan and Djibouti formalized diplomatic relations by signing a joint communique. Akhror Burkhonov, the press secretary of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed this development.

Representing their respective governments, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and his counterpart from Djibouti, Mohamed Siad Doualeh, inked the document.

It's worth mentioning that Djibouti, situated in East Africa, marks the 149th nation to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, last month, Uzbekistan initiated diplomatic relations with Gambia, a West African nation.
