Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindorov, who won the FIDE Candidates Tournament held in Cyprus on April 15, has been awarded the “Mehnat Shuhrati” (Labor Glory) Order. The corresponding decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A ceremony to welcome Javokhir Sindorov is being held today, April 17. During the event, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov read out the presidential decree.
“For demonstrating outstanding intellectual potential and professional skill at the FIDE Candidates Tournament held in Cyprus, and achieving record results among the world’s strongest grandmasters, Sindorov Javokhir Sanjarbekovich is hereby awarded the ‘Mehnat Shuhrati’ Order,” the Prime Minister said while reading the decree.
It is worth noting that Javokhir Sindorov completed the tournament without a single defeat. As a result, he rose to fifth place in the world rankings. Another Uzbek player, Nodirbek Abdusattorov (2780), is ranked above him.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also held a phone conversation with Javokhir Sindorov to congratulate him on his victory in the FIDE Candidates Tournament.
