Uzbekistan’s chances of reaching playoffs assessed

After defeats against Colombia and Portugal, the supercomputer of analytics company Opta assessed Uzbekistan’s chances of reaching the playoffs of the 2026 World Cup. The company announced this on its official website.

According to the updated forecast, Uzbekistan national team’s chances of finishing first in its group stand at 0%. The team’s chances of reaching the playoff stage are estimated at 1.65%.

According to Opta’s calculations, Uzbekistan’s chances of reaching the round of 16 are 0.31%. The team’s chances of reaching the quarterfinals are listed at 0.06%.

Uzbekistan national team’s chances of reaching the semifinals, advancing to the final and becoming world champion stand at 0%.

DR Congo, which will face Uzbekistan in the third round of the World Cup, has a 41.22% chance of reaching the round of 32.

According to the calculations, Argentina is considered the main favorite to win the World Cup. The defending champions have a 15.46% chance of winning the tournament. France follows with 15.06%, while Spain ranks third with 12.48%.

Before the start of the tournament, Opta named Spain as the main favorite, estimating its chances of becoming champion at 16.1%. However, after an unsuccessful first-round match, Spain dropped to third place with 12.48%.
