Number of people relocating to Uzbekistan from Russia and Kazakhstan rises

During 2025, a total of 1,159 people moved to Uzbekistan from foreign countries for permanent residence, with the largest share coming from Russia and Kazakhstan, according to the National Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, 1,159 people in total relocated to Uzbekistan for permanent residence from abroad last year.
Most of the new arrivals came from Russia, accounting for 39.9 percent of the total. Kazakhstan ranked second with 20.3 percent, followed by Tajikistan with 10.3 percent. In addition, 4.3 percent arrived from Kyrgyzstan and 3.1 percent from Turkmenistan. The remaining 22.1 percent came from other countries.
By region, the largest number of people relocating for permanent residence settled in Tashkent city, with 698 people. This was followed by Tashkent region with 275 arrivals and the Republic of Karakalpakstan with 101.
In addition, 24 people moved to Syrdarya region, 14 to Fergana region, 12 each to Jizzakh and Navoi regions, 11 to Bukhara region, 7 to Khorezm region, 2 each to Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions, and 1 person to Namangan region.
It is worth noting that earlier reports said that, by the end of 2025, the number of people leaving the United States exceeded the number of those moving there by 150,000.
