In Tashkent, a woman threw herself and her baby into the water

The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent reported that a 20-year-old woman from Bukhara threw herself and her baby into a body of water in Yunusabad district of the city.

The incident happened on 25th April this year, at approximately 11:00 p.m.  It is understood that the woman was suffering from depression after the breakdown of her marriage.  Consequently, she jumped into the Bozsuv canal, while holding her child, with the intention of ending both of their lives.  

The woman was spotted by two officers who were on duty in the vicinity of the canal.  One officer rescued the baby from the water and then the mother was pulled to safety.  They were both provided with first aid and transported to hospital.  Currently the woman is receiving psychological treatment, whilst her son has been temporarily placed in an orphanage.  

It should be recalled that earlier in the Sergeli district of Tashkent, one woman threw herself and her three children from the 9th floor of a building, while in Tashkent, a different woman threw herself and her baby into a body of water.
