Earlier, students of the 2nd-year clinical residency program at Tashkent State Medical University (formerly Tashkent State Dental Institute) contacted QALAMPIR.UZ to report that they had not received their stipends for three months. Following the publication of the article, the university administration issued an official response.
The university confirmed that stipends had not been paid to 19 clinical residents for September and October 2024.
“Currently, measures are being taken to pay the students their stipends in accordance with the procedures established by law,” the official statement said.
The university also noted that many 1st-year clinical residents had failed their annual assessments and were given multiple opportunities to retake them. The final opportunity was on November 8 of this year, enabling them to pass the annual assessment.
“Now, orders have been issued to promote clinical residents who successfully passed the assessments and cleared their debts to the next course (from 1st to 2nd year) and to assign them stipends. Payments will be made in full according to the established procedure. In line with the residency regulations, stipends are not paid to residents who still have academic debts,” the administration added.
Students who contacted us reported that they have now received the stipends for September, October, and November 2025. They also mentioned that the funds owed from the previous year will be paid soon.
“The three months of stipends have been paid. They also said they will pay the money from last year,” one student said.
