President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, October 21, visited the IT Park located in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent and took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of the project, the presidential press service reported.

Two years ago, the first phase of this project was implemented with an investment of $200 million. On an area of about 4 hectares, six office buildings with 20–25 floors and a modern congress hall were constructed.

All necessary conditions have been created here for specialists, and incubation and acceleration programs have been established to support promising startup projects. Projects in the fields of information technology, fintech, logistics, e-commerce, e-education, biotechnology, and other areas are being successfully implemented.

Currently, the number of IT Park residents has reached 3,200 companies, employing more than 14,000 specialists. Last year, the residents provided services worth $1.6 billion, and by the end of this year, this figure is expected to exceed $2.5 billion.

The export volume is planned to surpass the $1 billion mark for the first time.

In accordance with the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, the goal is to provide more than 300,000 young people with high-paying jobs in the field of information technology. Foreign experts estimate Uzbekistan’s potential in the field of artificial intelligence alone at $10 billion.

’’I am confident that this large complex, the foundation of which we are laying today, will play an important role in achieving our ambitious goals and further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and investors,’’ the President said.

According to the project, the IT Park area will be expanded by 1.5 times. In partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Data Volt company, a $150 million data center with a capacity of 12 megawatts will be built here. In the next stages, an additional $3 billion will be invested to increase its capacity to 500 megawatts.

In addition, a total of six buildings will be constructed in this area — an Artificial Intelligence Center, Space and Future Technologies Centers, two 20-story office buildings, as well as service and commercial centers.

In short, this complex will become an ’’Artificial Intelligence Hub’’ based on cutting-edge technologies, innovations, and knowledge.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev placed a capsule and officially launched the construction of the second phase of the IT Park project.
