Disability pensions in Uzbekistan will now be assigned proactively, without requiring citizens to submit a separate application. This new system is set out in the Presidential Decree “On the Introduction of Proactive Services in the Assignment of Disability Pensions and Compensations,” adopted on May 27.
According to the decree, starting from July 1, 2025, the following simplified procedures will be introduced:
- Automatic assignment of disability pensions to individuals diagnosed with Group I or II disabilities, eliminating the need to file an application. However, citizens will retain the right to decline the pension if they wish.
- Automatic assignment of compensations to people with Group I visual impairments, as well as to those who served at nuclear or radiation-exposed military sites, based on electronic data exchange.
- Automatic recalculation of disability pensions every two years, provided the recipient has gained at least one year of additional work experience since the initial assignment.
In addition, starting from October 1, 2025, the provision and payment of pensions in cash by JSC “People’s Bank” will be carried out through biometric identification (Face-ID) and electronic signatures to enhance convenience and security.
It is worth recalling that on May 19, a separate law was adopted that allows old-age pensions in Uzbekistan to also be assigned automatically, without the citizen needing to apply.
