The privatization or any other form of alienation of state-owned land designated for public recreation and cultural or domestic needs is now prohibited. This measure is outlined in the Law “On Amendments and Addenda to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” adopted today, May 5.

Under the new legislation, the construction of buildings and structures on such lands, the expansion of existing structures, or any reduction in the total area of these lands is strictly forbidden.

Amendments to the Criminal Code have also been introduced to reinforce this provision. Violations involving the unlawful allocation of land in contravention of these restrictions will now carry stronger criminal liability.

The law additionally defines permitted land use categories, dividing them into primary, conditionally permitted, and auxiliary types. This classification aims to bring greater clarity and regulation to land usage across the country.

Moreover, botanical gardens have officially been designated as protected natural areas. Any activity that threatens the preservation of flora within their territory is now expressly prohibited.Construction on recreational lands now officially prohibited in Uzbekistan
