An agreement on the allocation of a grant of 7 million euro to Uzbekistan was signed at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. This is reported by the press service under the State Committee on Ecology.

The funds of the grant will be used to improve the reclamation state of the lands of Chorkesar and Yangiabad special polygons.

In 2021, the first agreement worth €2 million was signed between the State Committee for Ecology and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.  The grant project worth €9 million is financed at the expense of a special fund of the Environmental Rehabilitation Account for Central Asia.

Within the framework of the grant project, during 2022-2025, activities will be carried out to improve the state and recultivation of special land plots.

Reclamation work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2023 and is to be completed in approximately two years.  The project will involve local and German experts in the construction and rehabilitation work.
