Planes from Turkey and Egypt unable to land in Tashkent due to fog

This morning, on 16 March, heavy fog prevented some airplanes from landing and taking off at the Tashkent airport. Due to poor visibility, several domestic and international flights were delayed and transferred to other airports. « Uzbekistan Airports » JSC reported this.

Due to heavy fog at the Tashkent airport – visibility of about 150 meters – Turkish Airlines flight THY-368, which was flying from Istanbul to Tashkent with 259 passengers on board, failed to land at the scheduled airport and left for an alternative airport in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) at 08:45.

“Air Cairo” flight MSC-771 from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tashkent was diverted to an alternative airport in Navoi due to poor visibility (200 meters). The plane with 172 passengers on board landed at Navoi Airport at 09:35.

At 10:14 Tashkent time, restrictions at the Tashkent airport were lifted. By that time, visibility had increased to 2,000 meters. Turkish Airlines Flight THY-368 landed in Tashkent at 11:47, and “Air Cairo” plane at 12:07 local time.
