Rana Shodiyeva was awarded at the film festival in India

Honored artist of Uzbekistan, Rano Shodiyeva, received a “Best Female Character” nomination of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries’ art and television film festival (NFDC) held in Mumbai, India.  She then won the award.  This was reported by the Information Service of the Cinematography Agency.

The actress was nominated for this award based on her role in the film “The Fate of a Woman” directed by Dilmurod Masaidov, which was based on real events.  The film is about the sad fate of Uzbek women who were returned from Syria as part of the humanitarian operation “Mercy” on the order of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Also at the festival, the film “A Long Way Home” directed by Chinese director Zhao Xiaozhi won the “Best Director” award.  Askar Ilyasov, an actor in the film “Paralympian” from Kazakhstan, won the award for the best male role.

Tajikistan’s “Fortuna” and Kyrgyz’s “Road to Heaven” received special recognition from the jury.
