The IMF helps Uzbekistan to improve its economic policy

Yesterday, on September 18, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, at his residence in New York. This was reported by the President's press service.

It is noted that detailed discussions on the global economic situation took place during the meeting. They also considered the issues related to further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with the IMF, including the agreements reached at the bilateral meeting held in Samarkand in June of this year.

"The head of the fund highly evaluated the results of the irreversible reform program in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to cooperate closely in promoting effective reforms in our country," the press service stated.

Additionally, during the meeting, they discussed matters concerning the IMF's participation in a comprehensive analysis of the stability of Uzbekistan's financial sector, providing consulting support for the development of proposals to improve economic policy, and the implementation of the program to enhance the capacity of specialists in the republic's agencies.
