Did the Topalang reservoir release water? Ministry of Emergency Situations commented (video)

Social networks reported that a dam built on the Topalang reservoir in the Surkhandarya region (oblast) released the reserved water and the neighboring zones flooded.  The Ministry of Emergency Situations provided an official report on the situation.

It was reported that today 22 June, at 08:14, the water level in the Topalang reservoir rose sharply.  The capacity of the Topalang hydroelectric reservoir project is 400 million cubic meters.  The actual volume now is 378.87 million cubic meters.

According to the plan, the water discharge is set at 70 cubic meters per second.  Today, as of 22 June, the level of water discharge has rated 110 cubic meters per second.

“The strength of the reservoir was not damaged.  Work is underway to reduce the volume of water,” – said the report of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
