Reports have spread on social networks that the leader of the Uzbek diaspora in the Russian city of Perm has urged his compatriots in the war in Ukraine to help official Moscow.

The Press Service under Foreign Labor Migration of Uzbekistan commented on the situation and asked citizens of the country not to follow such calls, not to go to conflict areas and not to participate in military operations.

According to reports, Jakhongir Jalolov, chairman of the board of the regional public organization "Society of Uzbeks of the Central Asian Perm region", proposed creating a battalion of volunteers to help Russia in the war in Ukraine.

"I propose forming a battalion of volunteers and call it the great Amir Temur.  I call to support Russia's "special military operation" for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine," - he said.

It should be noted that in Article 154 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, recruitment to the military service, security, police, military justice bodies, or other similar bodies of foreign countries is punishable by restriction of liberty from three to five years or deprivation of liberty from three to five years.
