8011A tragic incident occurred in Boka district, Tashkent region, where a 19-year-old woman and her fetus died under suspicious circumstances. Videos circulating on social media have raised claims that the deaths were due to medical negligence, prompting a response from the Ministry of Health.
The incident took place on November 17, when N.S., born in 2004 and a resident of the "Yangiabad" neighborhood area in Boka district, was admitted to the maternity department of the district medical association with a referral. She presented with an initial diagnosis of "Pregnancy-I, 30 weeks, urinary tract infection, obesity-III degree." After being evaluated, she left the hospital voluntarily around 17:10 that same day.
Three days later, on November 20, at around 04:50, N.S. returned to the maternity unit in critical condition, displaying signs of swelling and jaundice. She was re-admitted with an updated diagnosis of "Pregnancy-I, 30 weeks, urinary tract infection, acute fatty hepatosis, anemia moderate, obesity-III."
Despite initial treatment, her condition worsened. At 1:10 p.m., after a consultation with a doctor, N.S. was transferred to the intensive care unit. The regional perinatal center was informed about her deteriorating condition, and surgery was performed at 2:55 p.m. All medical procedures, including injections, were carried out according to established protocols. However, during the surgery, her general condition deteriorated further, leading to clinical death despite resuscitation efforts.
N.S. was declared biologically dead at 5:50 p.m. The preliminary cause of death was attributed to "thromboembolic syndrome of the pulmonary artery," along with "severe hepatosis," "acute liver failure," "urosepsis," and "septic shock." The prosecutor's office was notified about the incident at around 8:00 p.m.
A working group led by the chief obstetrician-gynecologist of the Ministry of Health is currently conducting a service inspection to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. The Boka district prosecutor's office has also initiated an investigation into the case.
